Synopsis of the Proposed Updates to the OSHA Fire Brigade Standard

EDITOR’S NOTE:  “Timeo Danaos et dona ferentes” AS I WADE THROUGH THE 600+ PAGES OF THE DOCUMENT PRODUCED BY OSHA, GENERALLY THEY MAKE IT SOUND LIKE THEY ARE DOING US A FAVOR BY PROVIDING INCREASED PROTECTION. NO ONE IS ADDRESSING THE ADDITIONAL WORK AND ADDITIONAL COST IMPACTS ALTHOUGH THEY SUGGEST THAT THEIR WASHINGTON BUREAUCRATS HAVE DONE SO. THE IMPACTS ON ALL FIRE DEPARTMENTS, ESPECAILLY ON SMALLER DEPARTMENTS, OR DEPARTMENTS THAT HAVE LIMITED STAFF, WHEN THE FULL IMPACT IS FELT IT WILL BE TOO LATE TO MAKE CHANGES AND DEPARTMENTS ACROSS THE NATION WILL HAVE TO LIVE WITH THE FALL OUT.  BEWARE OF GOVERNMENT BUREAUCRATS BEARING GIFTS!!!
